The Epiphany

The Epiphany

The six January we celebrated the Epiphany. This day ends the Christmas period. According to the Catholic religion Epiphany recalls the arrival of the Three Wise Men to the Child Jesus. This is a special holiday for children. Indeed we imagine the Befana as an ancient Santa Claus-like figure whose name means "giver of gifts" and appears as a friendly old witch who rides through the air on a broomstick, dropping through chimneys to fill up with stockings toys and candy. All we use to write a letter to Befana to ask for gifts. However Befana is a bit like our court. In fact, she brings sweets and toys to children during the year were good and ash and coal to bads. So we in the morning of Epiphany we never know what we will find in your sock and the night before we are all a little worried.

Christmas time

At Christmas the school was closed from December 22 to January 7. when we come back we talked a lot about how each of us has spent Christmas. Our discussions revealed that most of us took advantage of this period of holiday to be more with his family. Much was expected on Christmas Eve when the whole family (parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles and other relatives) we gathered around the table for the traditional Christmas Eve dinner. It was great to see the whole family gathering and united! On the morning of Christmas have all received a beautiful gift. Many of us had written the letter to Santa and were settled in their desire. Most of the time we spent playing bingo. Many of us have won a few money. We have all led to school photos to show our friends a few moments of our Christmas holidays. Pupils of class II A-B

I had a fantastic Christmas. I am going to tell you a little about how I celebrated Christmas with my family.

On Christmas Eve before I went to bed I left milk, carrots and a mince pie for Santa and his reindeers. I was very excited to see what Father Christmas would leave for me and my twin brother Max. That night we could hardly sleep!!!! When I woke up in the morning I bounced on my brother to wake him up and said “Wake up, it’s time to get up!!!” It was still too early to get up so my mum and dad said go back to sleep!!!

At 6.01am my mum and dad said we could get up as there was no chance I was going back to sleep! We all went down stairs to see what presents had been left from Santa. I couldn’t believe my eyes I got a Nintendo Wii, Rock band, a new football and lots of other things. I was very lucky!

After we had opened our presents, we went to visit my grandma. She had made Christmas Dinner for all the family, there were 8 of us in total. Grandma had made a traditional Christmas dinner (I don’t really like Christmas dinner though!). We had turkey, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce. For pudding we had Christmas pudding with brandy sauce or we could have cheese cake or chocolate cake. I enjoyed the chocolate cake!!! We pulled Christmas crackers at the table and we had to wear the party hats inside them and tell the jokes!

Later in the afternoon we went to the park and played football and in the evening we watched the Iron Man on TV.

I had a lovely day with my family.
